Schedule of Lewis and Clark Events Lewis & Clark succeeded in mapping a route beyond the Mississippi River to the West coast. They kept journals of the expedition detailing their discoveries of flora and fauna, meetings and negotiations with many Native American tribes. Meriwether Lewis made several preparations for his long journey in West Virginia with stops along the Ohio River.
