Clark and the six hunters continue scouting ahead of the main party
searching for food. Lewis's party continues to struggle along the rugged
terrain: " the road was excessively dangerous along this creek being a
narrow rockey path generally on the side of steep precipice." Lewis
Clark’s group camped at Cedar Creek, near present Lewis and Clark
Grove, Idaho

Clark’s group descends the Rocky Mountains into an open prairie
where they encounter the Nez Perce Nation: " a man came out to meet me with
great caution & conducted us to a large spacious lodge… those people gave us
a small piece of buffalow meat, some dried Salmon berries & roots and some
bread made of this root all of which we eate harilty." Clark
Clark camped at a village of Nez Perce Indians on Weippe Prairie, near
the town of Weippe, Idaho.
Lewis dispatches men to track a lost horse: " the load of the horse
was of considerable value consisting of merchandize and all my stock of
winter cloathing." Lewis
Lewis’s group camped between Dollar and Sixbit creeks in Idaho

Clark becomes ill due to indifference to foods and overeating the
previous evening: " I am verry Sick to day and puke which relive me."
Lewis and party continue to struggle : " we passed a broken country
heavily timbered great quantities of which had fallen and so obstructed our
road that it was almost impracticable to proceed in many places."
Clark camped on the Clearwater River about a mile from Orofino,
Idaho
