Looking back to Celilo Falls through memories, images and the voices of our elders.
Exhibit through September 9, 2007 at Warm Springs Museum, Warm Springs, Oregon

Celebrate the ancient ways of the tribes in their rock fishing at Celilo Falls near The Dalles, Oregon and in navigating the Columbia River in high-prowed Chinookan canoes.

Almost 100 years ago the Warm Springs, the Wasco, and the Northern Paiute tribes built distinctly different dugout and tule reed canoes.  The spectacular salmon fishing at Celilo Falls ended when The Dalles Dam was built in the late 1950's.
